Peter Vermeulen

Master in Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences at the University of Leuven (Belgium) and PhD in Social Sciences at the University of Leiden (The Netherlands).

From 1987 till 1998 working for the Flemish Autism Society, first as home trainer for families with a child with autism, later as director of the home training centre and finally as trainer / lecturer. Since 1998 working as autism consultant / lecturer at Autisme Centraal. Co-director of the Centre for Concrete Communication, an European training and education centre for autism spectrum disorders. Editor of “Autisme Centraal”, bi-monthly journal of Autisme Centraal and member of the editorial board of the Belgium Journal of Special Education, Child Psychiatry and Clinical Child Psychology. Author of more than 15 books and several articles on autism spectrum disorders, a.o. “This the title: on autistic thinking” and “I am Special”, which is on psycho-education and has been translated into Danish: “Jeg er noget helt særligt.” (København: Dansk psykologisk Forlag)
